The Golden Thread Gallery is proud to present “ Thinking of Ideas” , a selection of smaller works by nineteen of Northern/Ireland's most outstanding contemporary visual artists. All of the contributors have met with much critical acclaim both regionally and internationally and between them have exhibited in the major Biennales and centres for contemporary visual art across the globe.

“Thinking of Ideas” is an outstanding opportunity to view work by both Northern/Irish artists who have won such prestigious awards as the PS1 Scholarship, New York (Susan MacWilliams), the British School of Rome (Brian Kennedy & Philip Napier) and the BANFF Residency Award Canada (Gary Shaw), as well as the Ormeau Baths Gallery's Perspective Prize (Niamh McCann, Susan MacWilliam and Dan Shipsides), and the Arts Council of Northern Irelands Major Individual Award (Susan MacWilliam and Dan Shipsides). The artists have also participated in International Residencies, including; NIFCA, Finland (Una Walker), the Artists Work Program, Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin (Gavin O'Connor), the Pepiniere Residency, Slovakia (Aisling O'Beirn).

The show reflects a cross section of contemporary approaches, mediums and concerns, and includes a variety of art forms ranging from limited edition mugs by Aisling O'Beirn and photographic work by Martina Corry to the stereoscopes of Susan MacWilliams, sculptural work by Philip Napier and paintings by William McKeown. With such a wealth of choice there is literally something to suit everybody's taste.
